Chris Caleo
Chris has been part of the fabric of North Ward Rugby Club for over a decade now, joining as a player in 2010, then becoming a committee member in 2011, and president in 2012. From coaching A Grade and senior ladies’ teams, plus fulfilling the duties of president, there isn’t much he hasn’t done around the club. A true club stalwart.

Deputy Chairman - Seniors
Brock Thompson
Brock has been a player for the club for many years and in conjunction with continuing to play, coach juniors and senior ladies, has looked to contribute even further by taking on this important role, overseeing the operations of the senior teams.

Secretary
Catrina Schell
Catrina is a dedicated club parent with two daughters currently playing for the Club and has proudly been part of the Sandcrabs family for the past four years. Passionate about the Club and its community, Catrina is always willing to contribute wherever needed and is known for her reliability and commitment. Having previously held the role of Sponsorship Director, she brings valuable experience and strong organisational skills to her current role as Secretary for the 2026 season, continuing to support the Club both on and off the field.

Financial Director
Carmen Finlay
Carmen is another club volunteer with two boys currently playing in the junior ranks. Always the first to put her hand up to help where needed, Carmen has fulfilled the role of club treasurer since the commencement of the 2020 season.

Ellie Tapau
Ellie loves all things footy and has proudly been part of the Sandcrabs family for the past four years. As a mum to two junior players, she is a familiar face around the Club and a passionate supporter of grassroots rugby. Known for being extremely organised, Ellie keeps things running smoothly behind the scenes and is always willing to help wherever needed. When she’s not at the footy field, you’ll definitely find her taking long walks on the beach 🤣🤣 (or planning the next game day). Ellie’s energy, reliability and love for the Club make her a valued part of the Sandcrabs community.

Michael Horton
Michael has been with the club for 14 years playing in all senior grades including grand finals in each grade, he now looks at giving back to the club that has given him so much as and has been Senior Director of men's rugby since the 2024 season.

Fabian Sataro
Fabian has been part of the North Ward Old Boys community since 2012, joining the club after moving to Townsville and playing senior grade ever since. With one child currently playing in the junior ranks, he is strongly invested in the development of the club’s future players. His focus is on supporting growth in junior participation and ensuring every young athlete experiences and practices the club’s core values of Commitment, Respect, Ability, Be Your Best, and Safety. Fabian is dedicated to fostering a positive, supportive, and inclusive environment for all junior players and their families.

Boys Director
Kathy Wheeler
Kathy is a dedicated club mum to two players and a long-term team manager who has become a trusted and familiar face across the Club. Known as a “parent to all,” Kathy is always ready to lend a hand, support players, and make sure every child feels safe, included and cared for. If there’s someone you want looking after your kids, it’s Kathy. With a particular passion for Teenage Boys rugby, she plays a vital role in fostering teamwork, respect and enjoyment of the game, both on and off the field

Teenage Girls Director
Megan McBaron
Megan has been an active club volunteer since 2022. With two players in the teen grades, she is committed to strengthening and growing the teen girls’ program. She supports the club’s commitment to an inclusive, encouraging environment - one that builds confidence through development and growth, fosters a lifelong love of rugby, and ensures the girls are having fun while pushing themselves and their game forward.

Rachel Forster
Rachel has been actively involved with the Club since 2015, contributing across all areas of the Junior program. As a proud club parent with two children playing, she brings both lived experience and a strong commitment to player development. Over the past three years, Rachel has held the role of Teenage Girls and Women’s Director, where she has been a passionate advocate for inclusive pathways and positive participation. With a strong belief in the power of grassroots rugby, Rachel is dedicated to growing the game locally, supporting volunteers, and ensuring the Club remains a welcoming and supportive environment for players of all ages and abilities.
